Fashion Designer and DFC Executive Member, Jill Robertson is a native Michigander and pays homage to her home-state with her fashion brand, Brand 1837– as Michigan officially became a state in 1837. Brand 1837 is a Womenswear brand that represents a vibrant spirit, and embraces the strength, uniqueness and creative energy that every woman exemplifies.

Jill has been hand sewing and manipulating fabrics since she was six years old draping fabric around her body to create beautiful dresses. Jill received her first sewing machine when she was just 10 years old, and has been designing ever since. Jill is now a formally educated fashion designer who received a degree in Textile and Apparel Studies and Marketing from Western Michigan University, and spent one year at the American Intercontinental University in London, England. Jill also holds a Master’s degree in Business Management from Walsh College. Taking a slight detour into the automotive industry, the Michigan born designer and brand both fully embody the spirit of Detroit. Jill is always reminded of home with the inception of Brand 1837.
Bursting At The Seams.
Jill officially launched Brand 1837’s premiere Fall Collection collection and e-commerce website in June. The event was held on June 17, 2023, and hosted 150 guests to fine dining, and complimentary mocktails. Produced by IKONIK Commercial Group, Brand 1837 introduced 36 new designs of ready-to-wear, custom and theatrical clothing for women during a 30-minute fashion show for friends, and industry professionals.Brand 1837’s premier collection is a testament to Jill’s creatively brilliant use of fabrics as those used in the Brand 1837 Fall 23 collection were inspired by a bursting nebula, also reflected in the event’s theme decor.
